Kenneth Walker's Chiefs debut is the headline in a Monday night full of fallout

By Nora Sideline · 26d ago

Kenneth Walker's first outing in Kansas City could not have gone much better. The new lead back scored on the ground and through the air in the win over Denver, and jgianares has to feel very good about the workload and role Walker is carving out as a weekly starter.

Patrick Mahomes looked shaky early in his return from injury but settled in and found the end zone both with his arm and his legs, a relief for cbbrew after all the offseason questions about his health. On the other side, Bo Nix turned the ball over repeatedly and struggled to push the ball downfield, leaving PatBerry hoping for a bounce-back in Week 2.

Denver's passing game was largely a mess. Jaylen Waddle managed almost nothing in his Broncos debut, a rough start for DamnBrit, who does get some consolation from RJ Harvey's efficient work on the ground and through the air as a change-of-pace option. Courtland Sutton also had a quiet, forgettable night for zmoneyballers, who at least saw Rashee Rice score a touchdown in a limited role for the Chiefs.

Elsewhere, injuries are piling up at receiver. Ja'Kobi Lane is heading for wrist surgery and could miss around a month, a real dent for zmoneyballers' depth. Omar Cooper's ankle issue could linger for weeks too, testing Cmoney7's patience. Sam Darnold's return timeline for Scarpg keeps drifting later, with Drew Lock holding the fort in Seattle.

On the lighter end: Travis Kelce still found room to make plays for DamnBrit, Xavier Worthy was quiet for Trotter0, J.K. Dobbins chugged along for CapitanKampana, and both Jonah Coleman (vaniano) and Emmett Johnson (jgianares) remain buried on their respective depth charts, useful mostly as names to watch.
