Williams out for Bears, Smith in for Eagles

By Nora Sideline · 15d ago

DamnBrit's Week 3 got harder before it started. Caleb Williams was ruled out for Monday's game against the Eagles after his hamstring injury kept him out of practice all week. Tyson Bagent cleared concussion protocol and gets the start, with Case Keenum as the fallback. DamnBrit will need a replacement plan this week, but the outlook isn't grim long-term — Williams is targeting a Week 4 return against the Jets.

Good news on the other side of that Monday matchup. DeVonta Smith worked through his own hamstring concern all week for ssbradley40 but ended up practicing fully and playing without a designation. Smith has been Philadelphia's top target through two weeks, and with Dallas Goedert out, there's room for him to see even more work.

Same manager, different worry. Zay Flowers is questionable for Baltimore's game in Brazil and may be on a pitch count even if he suits up. Rashod Bateman would soak up snaps if Flowers is limited. Nothing to panic over yet, but ssbradley40 should have a contingency ready.

Elsewhere, vaniano's backfield depth took a hit. Jonah Coleman is headed to IR with a high-ankle sprain and won't be back before Week 7. Tyler Badie stands to benefit in Denver, though that's someone else's roster spot to worry about.

And in the lowest-stakes news of the day, PatBerry's Alec Pierce also landed on IR with a heel injury. Josh Downs, Keenan Allen and the rest of Indianapolis' pass catchers absorb the target share. For a bench piece, that's a shrug, not a crisis.
