CapitanKampana went shopping at tight end this week, adding both Mark Andrews, a flex-worthy TE, and Darren Waller, a depth piece, while cutting loose Chig Okonkwo, a depth piece who was blocking nobody. It's the kind of quiet, opportunistic churn Will has built a reputation on — no rookies, no patience, just bodies that might matter later.
The stranger call came a day later, when CapitanKampana dropped Khalil Shakir, a bench WR with standalone value, to add Dontayvion Wicks, a bench WR with standalone value. A lateral move on paper, and one that only looks defensible because of what happened next.
Scarpg had cut Wicks himself just a day earlier to bring in Quentin Johnston, another bench WR with standalone value. Ryan clearly wasn't in love with Wicks — and then watched Will scoop him up less than 24 hours later. Whether that's addition by subtraction or a gift to the neighbor remains to be seen.
Net effect: CapitanKampana walks away with more depth and a tight end who actually starts some weeks. Scarpg gets his guy at receiver but hands his castoff straight to a division rival. Call it a wash with an asterisk — Will's asterisk.
