Every August produces a few waiver claims nobody remembers making. This year's crop, viewed with a little distance, tells its own story.
Start with 2025. cbbrew, forever content to lose and hoard picks, added Isaiah Likely — now a flex-worthy TE, a nice grab for a manager who claims he doesn't check his lineup. He also dropped Tyler Bass, who is now off the fantasy radar, so no harm there. cplabarge, the league's chief Pat antagonist, added Trey Benson (now a depth piece) but also dropped Luther Burden, who has since become a flex-worthy WR. Connor has a lot of near-misses in his career record; add this to the pile.
Cmoney7, still talking like a three-time champion even mid-decline, added both Isaac TeSlaa (now a depth piece) and Romeo Doubs (now a bench WR with standalone value) — modest gains, but Cole will tell you he out-coached the room regardless.
DamnBrit, never afraid to sell early, dropped Jonnu Smith and added Amari Cooper — both now off the fantasy radar, a wash for the reigning queen of good timing. Trotter0 added Marvin Mims, now off the radar, fitting for a roster that treats hope as a punchline. Scarpg added Daniel Carlson, also off the radar — even Bijan's guy whiffs on a kicker now and then.
Nothing dramatic. Just August being August.
