McCaffrey banged up for zmoneyballers

By Nora Sideline · 16d ago

Christian McCaffrey sat out practice with tightness and soreness, and the 49ers say they're managing him carefully. For zmoneyballers, that's the top story of the day — McCaffrey is a weekly RB starter, and the team is already thin at the position with other backs banged up. Nothing serious yet, but worth watching. Zmoneyballers also has George Kittle, who looked closer to full speed running routes and catching passes as he works back from his Achilles injury. Kittle remains on the active/PUP list but insists he's on track for Week 1 — a flex-worthy TE trending in the right direction. Elsewhere, elite quarterbacks got good buzz. Lamar Jackson (PatBerry) has built quick chemistry with rookie receiver Ja'Kobi Lane while Zay Flowers deals with a quad issue. Josh Allen (jgianares) connected with new receiver DJ Moore on a long completion in camp, a sign the two are clicking early. At running back, Omarion Hampton's outlook got murkier for Trotter0 after new Chargers OC Mike McDaniel said he plans to rotate Hampton, Kimani Vidal and Keaton Mitchell by feel. Mitchell (Scarpg) is also stuck in that mix as a lower-cost lottery ticket. Breece Hall (vaniano) is set for a bigger role as the Jets' lead back this season, a clean boost for a weekly starter. Minor notes: Sam Darnold (Scarpg) is adjusting to a new offensive coordinator in Seattle. RJ Harvey (DamnBrit) is healthy while J.K. Dobbins (CapitanKampana) nurses a soft-tissue issue, opening more reps for Harvey. Rachaad White (Trotter0) sits behind Jacory Croskey-Merritt on Washington's depth chart. Tua Tagovailoa (Trotter0) and Shedeur Sanders (Cmoney7) remain in unresolved quarterback competitions — low-stakes bench watches for now.
