Puka Nacua remains the story for CapitanKampana. The Rams wideout is dealing with groin soreness that will keep him out of Saturday's preseason opener against the Chiefs, but Sean McVay expects him back on the practice field ahead of the second exhibition game against the Saints. Nothing here threatens Week 1, but for a manager counting on an elite WR, the daily "is he practicing" updates are worth watching anyway.
Caleb Williams won't play at all in the preseason for the Bears, with Ben Johnson choosing to rest him. That's a non-event for DamnBrit — no reason for an elite QB to take preseason hits.
Malik Nabers continues to progress from his knee injury, working in a red non-contact jersey and impressing John Harbaugh, who called it a milestone. Vaniano should feel good about the trajectory, even though Nabers will sit out the preseason opener. Vaniano also gets a hamstring scare on Chuba Hubbard, but Dave Canales says the flex option is expected to be ready for the regular-season opener.
Zay Flowers is healthy and practicing without limits for zmoneyballers, though Baltimore will rest him Saturday. Patrick Mahomes is on track for Week 1 despite sitting out Kansas City's preseason opener, a comfortable update for cbbrew. CapitanKampana also gets good news on Tucker Kraft, who looks on schedule for Week 1 against the Vikings.
Elsewhere, Brock Purdy will sit for San Francisco's opener, DK Metcalf and Michael Pittman are both out with injuries for Pittsburgh, Woody Marks won't play as Houston manages its backfield, and Oronde Gadsden logged modest preseason work while fending off David Njoku. All bench-level noise, nothing more.
