Emeka Egbuka's toe sprain is stable, and Tampa Bay expects him back for the Week 1 opener at Cincinnati. Good news for cplabarge, who has him as a weekly starter and can stop refreshing the injury report.
Washington held out basically its entire offense for the preseason opener against the Dolphins. Jayden Daniels, Scarpg's elite QB, sat. So did Terry McLaurin (flex-worthy, DamnBrit), Stefon Diggs (bench, jgianares) and Jacory Croskey-Merritt (bench, Scarpg). None of it means much yet — Daniels, McLaurin and Diggs are all expected to share the field for the first time in the next exhibition game, at Detroit. Croskey-Merritt, last year's find at running back, now has to watch Rachaad White's workload history with some concern.
Detroit rested starters too. Sam LaPorta (weekly TE, Cmoney7) and Jameson Williams (flex WR, PatBerry) both stayed in street clothes, along with the rest of the Lions' first-team offense. Nothing to see here beyond normal preseason caution.
Tyler Warren didn't play for the Colts either, but PatBerry shouldn't worry — Warren's role only grows if Alec Pierce's ankle lingers. Jaylen Waddle is a bigger concern for DamnBrit: his leg injury has kept him out of Broncos practice, and his preseason debut keeps getting pushed back.
Pittsburgh again sat both backs, leaving DamnBrit's Rico Dowdle and Scarpg's Jaylen Warren no clearer picture of who leads that backfield.
Elsewhere: Josh Jacobs (zmoneyballers) could return to Packers practice next week. J.K. Dobbins (CapitanKampana) sat again in Denver. And Tua Tagovailoa (Trotter0) has the edge in Atlanta's QB competition over Sam Darnold (Scarpg), who's healthy but was simply given the week off.
