Nacua sits out again as preseason injuries pile up across the league

By Nora Sideline · 9d ago

Puka Nacua's groin situation is trending the wrong way for CapitanKampana. The Rams wideout missed practice for a second straight session, and coach Sean McVay's earlier promise of a return "next week" hasn't held up. Nacua remains in no danger of missing Week 1, but with an elite WR this is the kind of story worth checking daily.

Elsewhere, the running back injury reports were largely reassuring. Christian McCaffrey's absences for zmoneyballers have been labeled simple tightness, not a hold-in, and he's expected to be ready for Week 1. Breece Hall's groin issue for vaniano is minor but the Jets are being cautious, so treat him week-to-week rather than day-to-day. zmoneyballers got worse news on the depth chart, as flex option Kyle Monangai hyperextended his knee and will need weeks to recover, though there's still time before Chicago's opener.

Good news for vaniano on the other side of the ball: Malik Nabers is finally practicing in live 11-on-11 work, a real step forward in his ACL recovery.

DamnBrit had a busy day. Jaylen Waddle returned to practice after a leg scare, Bucky Irving is set for preseason run after being held out of the opener, and the backfield outlook for TreVeyon Henderson and Rhamondre Stevenson points to another even timeshare in New England.

Minor notes: Jameson Williams (PatBerry) has a shoulder issue considered nothing serious, Tony Pollard (cbbrew) sat out practice with an undisclosed ailment, J.K. Dobbins (CapitanKampana) is progressing, Xavier Worthy (Trotter0) inched forward in limited drills, and Tank Bigsby (vaniano) added a toe injury to an already crowded Eagles backfield.
