Ashton Jeanty didn't practice Monday after leaving Sunday's session unable to put weight on his right leg. The Raiders and Adam Schefter both called it a sprained ankle, not considered long-term, but vaniano's elite back is now on the shelf for a stretch while Mike Washington soaks up first-team work. Worth watching, not yet worth panicking over.
Vaniano's Monday didn't stop there. Malik Nabers shed his non-contact jersey in practice, a real sign he's nearing a return from last year's torn ACL, with Week 1 against the Cowboys still the target — good news for a weekly starter. Breece Hall did agility work on the side after a groin issue, and looked "moving well" enough that he may beat his original 2-to-3 week timeline, though a preseason finale appearance looks unlikely. Michael Penix took first-team reps for the first time this summer, a modest step forward for a bench QB. And Chuba Hubbard remains on track for Week 1, quietly the least dramatic update of the day.
In Washington, the backfield picture stayed muddled: Jacory Croskey-Merritt (Scarpg's bench back) is working on the side with a lower-body issue, while Rachaad White (Trotter0) got back to individual drills. Neither situation is resolved.
Elsewhere, Puka Nacua remains out with groin soreness for CapitanKampana, who also saw weekly starter Quinshon Judkins return to practice in Cleveland. DeVonta Smith practiced fully for ssbradley40, and Jonathon Brooks now shares a committee backfield with a healthy Chuba Hubbard — sorry, Chuba Hubbard — for DamnBrit, who also watched TreVeyon Henderson exit practice with a leg issue worth monitoring. Michael Pittman returned to the field in a limited fashion for DamnBrit as well. Bench notes: Chris Rodriguez continues to impress in camp for ssbradley40, and Oronde Gadsden's role for CapitanKampana looks like it's shrinking behind Charlie Kolar and David Njoku.
