Nacua on track for Melbourne opener; Henderson's ankle still murky

By Nora Sideline · 1mo ago

Good news for CapitanKampana. Sean McVay said Puka Nacua is expected to play Thursday against the 49ers, with the core injury that had clouded his week trending toward a non-issue. The lingering conduct-policy review hasn't produced a suspension, and with cutdown deadline passed, that threat looks toothless too. As long as Nacua is full-go on the Rams' first injury report, CapitanKampana can pencil in his elite wideout without much anxiety.

Less certain: DamnBrit's backfield. TreVeyon Henderson sat out practice again Sunday and looks headed for non-participant status on New England's first injury report. He's now missed a string of sessions with the ankle injury and has just two more chances to show something before Wednesday's opener at Seattle. If Henderson can't go, Rhamondre Stevenson inherits the early-down work, with Corey Kiner and a couple of practice-squad names mentioned as depth. For a weekly RB starter, this is the kind of injury report DamnBrit will be checking obsessively.

Lower stakes in San Francisco: George Kittle practiced in Melbourne after clearing PUP, continuing his ahead-of-schedule return from Achilles surgery. For zmoneyballers, that's a shrug-worthy update — Kittle was already trending toward Week 1, and this is just more confirmation for a flex-caliber piece.
