Love's ankle still murky as Cardinals coach speaks in riddles

By Nora Sideline · 1mo ago

PatBerry spent another Wednesday parsing Mike LaFleur's press conference for clues on Jeremiyah Love. The rookie was limited in practice with the high-ankle sprain that's dogged him since the preseason, and LaFleur again offered nothing concrete, saying not to read into the depth chart while also insisting there's no cap on Love's workload. A weekly starter for PatBerry, Love is trending toward a game-time call, with Tyler Allgeier ready to take over lead duties if he's out or limited.

In Washington, the news split down the middle. Rachaad White (CapitanKampana's bench piece) cleared the injury report entirely and looks to have shaken his hamstring issue. Jacory Croskey-Merritt (Scarpg) was limited with a groin injury and still has work to do before Sunday. Neither is season-defining, but White's clean bill of health is the better headline of the two.

Pittsburgh cleared both of its top receivers. DK Metcalf (Cmoney7) and Michael Pittman (ssbradley40) avoided the injury report after missing camp time, a boost for both, with Pittman in line for a bigger target share after Kenny Gainwell's departure.

Elsewhere, it was mostly good news. Tucker Kraft, Josh Downs, Khalil Shakir, Wan'Dale Robinson, Rachaad White and Bhayshul Tuten all avoided their respective injury reports. George Kittle will play Thursday but on a snap count. Jakobi Meyers and Zay Flowers are trending toward playing despite limited practices. Ashton Jeanty is fully clear for Trotter0 after his ankle scare.
